Since i have gotten back from iraq i have had my ninja zx9r now i dont know if its cuz i resent the bike or what but i just havent had much fun on it like i did when i had my firebolt. For some reason today i just seemed to have fun on my bike i was takeing curves hard and did a big smily face burn out in front of my buddys house for his son and just plain had a blast on it all day though i still miss being on a buell i really got off my bike today with a smile on my face. |

I put about 80 miles on my DR650 yesterday, found some new trails and really freaked out a couple people along the way. I crossed a river that they told me was impossible on the DR650 compared to their ATVs. What the heck I got a little wet. Today I rode my S1 for a while and nothing special but a nice ride. Henirk is right, the best bike is the one your riding at the moment. |

Your riding, you made it home from iraq alive. Good things to be thankful for regardless of what your riding. Many a day i was wishing for a bike to ride even a moped would have been fun. well, maybe not a moped, but you get the idea. I rode my 550 yamaha maxim to a meet a few months ago because at the time out of three bikes it was the only one running. some clown with a camera took a pic of and said it was the ugliest bike there. i gave him the finger and asked , "what are you riding" . guess what he was riding? He rode on the back of a Virago, with his girlfriend as driver! |

Firebolt, Thank you for your service to our country, and for protecting our freedom. Glad you made it back to ride again. You don't know what your missing. You should take him up on that offer. The S2 is truly a remarkable machine. |

Owned - Yippeeee Only got it stuck once yesterday and it wasn't that bad. The trail I was riding was an old abandon railway line. It was abandoned about 50 years ago but has been extensively used as an old back woods trail. The scenery on it is breathtaking and amazing. A couple of the old trestles have been re-constructed but there is a large one that is not. I had to cross the river and wished someone could have taken pictures. Always next time. |

The big thumper is by no means a Moto Cross bike but its such a fun trail bike - it has torque to pull through a lot of stuff. |

I rode a KLR 650 once, it was fun. I realy would like a dual sport to complement my Buell. |

The thing is that when I do 80kph off road it gives me the same sensation of doing 140kph on road. There are several hundred kilometers of trails similar to the pictures above right on the back door of my Summer House (Cottage for you Uppity Types). All my kids are now riding as well so its great fun. |

A guy at work here has one of those that he rides in sometimes. Said he gets about 50-60mpg. (It's Wednesday so I thought I'd answer my own question. ) |

Mike, I have never really thought about gas milage on that thing. Most of the time its on the kinds of trails as above and running in 2nd and 3rd gear so I keep the revs at about 3000-5000rpm, then on the rockier trails I keep it riding in the same range, mostly blips of the throttle. I do very little road riding on it. Its purely a toy and does burn a good bit of fuel. On the other hand, I have had to do more maintenance on the engine of that bike than I ever had to do with the S1. The motor will be getting refreshed over the winter on the DR650 and there is only 23000km on it. I got a little tap in the top end and it don't appear to be the valve adjustments. Oh well - the joy of owning a Japanese Product!!!! |
