I've run into a number of bikes with factory race kits which were installed by the original dealer. Many of the owners don't bother to keep the take-off parts. I stopped at a local HD/Buell dealer today and inquired as to whether they had any stock parts, like mufflers, ECM's, etc. The answer kind of amazed me. I was told that they throw all the "take-off" stuff in their scrap metal dumpster after 30 days or so. Their attitude was basicly "go see the parts department (and buy it new) if you need something." Wow!!?? |

take-offs are concidered by many dealers as used parts. |

Wycked is correct. At the dealer where I worked take off parts would hang around for a designated time period and then be moved to the used parts building. We had so many parts that we even opened up a used parts store. It's worth noting that some stock parts are extremely common and just don't sell. Stock exhaust systems fall into that category. We had so many at our dealership that they took up their own room in the used parts building. It got to the point where we started throwing away complete exhaust systems because we had no need for them. |

>>>>take-offs are concidered by many dealers as used parts. Make that by the LAW. Precisely the reason that it, back in 1998, wasn't just as easy as sending a set of PM wheels to a dealer and having them send the white wheels back to East Troy. For complete details, research what happened to Dodge years ago. Court |

Make that by the LAW. I could not personally back that statement up Court so didn't feel comfortable making it. I know the dealers here are not allowed to sell "used" parts unless they have a recyclers liscence so they are not available. |
