Help please. I recently picked up a very low mileage 2010 blast for my wife to ride... It was used in the riders edge program years ago and had been parked since. My wife replaced a fork tube and changed the oil... And then she cleaned the carb...5 times... Couldn't get it to run right so I cleaned the carb myself... Using guitar strings to go thru the passages... Compressed air... Carb cleaner... You name it. The bike starts and idles ok... But when you go to try and ride it it starts to fall in its face at low throttle input. If you twist harder it takes off and runs like it should... But again falls on its face at low throttle input. I've cleaned thousands of carbs in my day without issue but I'm still thinking it's got to be a carb issue? Is there anything else it could be? She's ready to ride this thing and getting tired very quickly of uninstalling and reinstalling the carb. Any words of wisdom? |

Fuel pump? Carburetor float? Misfiring spark plugs? |

Does the Blast have a VOES (vacuum operated electric switch) for timing advance? Check vacuum tubing? |

Was the slow jet (pilot jet) removed and cleaned during the carb cleaning? |

I know a lot of people complain about the electronic choke and I believe convert it to manual or switch the carb IIRC. Could the choke be stuck open? |

Sounds like a lean mixture off of idle. Does the carb have an accelerator pump/plunger? That system has some really small passages, and if other parts of the carb were gummy, that 'system' may be clogged. Otherwise, it gets fiddly. Is the needle clip in the center notch? Or, try raising it one notch and see if that helps. You can confirm a lean mixture by taking off the air filter and loosely 'shielding' the carb inlet with your fingers, and see if the problem improves. Won't tell you where the issue is, though . . . Hope this helps, Dave |

gday ,its not sucking air around inlet manifold maybe? just get your garden hose and squirt a thin stream of water around manifold area[could use wd40 ,but it will make a mess] use throttle while your sealing a possible air leak and see if its better.cheers pete. |
