Owner said it was a nightmare and had spent more than I gave him for it on "repairs" at local Harley shop. Runs rough and fouls plugs quickly.my first Buell, only 7500 miles, want to get it right. Any good service people in my area? Southeast Missouri, halfway between Memphis and St. Louis.

So you think the owner was not looking for a good service for this motorcycle?

Gary, if you are at all comfortable with changing the oil and installing a new plug in your lawnmower, and can change a multimeter from reading volts DC to Ohms, you can do a lot of the work yourself.

Get a factory service manual and study it. St Paul H-D is a good source. The manual is excellent.

Fouled plugs are a symptom of poor/incomplete combustion, usually a rich mixture. Anything from a clogged air filter to an incorrect Throttle Position Sensor setting to a weak or poorly timed spark to leaking/clogged injectors.

I have found that resolving issues like this are best solved by first confirming what is correct, instead of saying to myself 'It must be this'. Start at the beginning and work one system at a time. And don't discount a rubbed wire or an electrical connection not fully seated.

And there are lots of folks here willing to help. Hope this helps, Dave
