Any suggestions on bars that are close to X1 bars but a little lower? I've been looking through the Renthal bars, but most seem to be wider in the centre section and wider overall, but I like the narrowness of the standard bars... cheers, lemonchili |

Ignore that last one, got my measurements wrong... most bars are wider, but by less than an inch... |

I'm looking to add an inch or two in height on my '00 cyclone. Just bought some S1 bars that we're suggested on another post, same rise and less pullback. Any suggestions? Thanks |

I checked out the Flanders site, but couldn't find any dimensions. Am I missing something? |

Yep, lots of bars and dimensions in there. Follow the directory through handlebars, imports, 7/8" and you will find just about the entire universe of bars. |

sorry sideroad will link you back to Flanders site. Get a couple Dennis Kirk catalogs(free btw). Get both the Harley and Metric ones. They carry Flanders and list all the dimensions.

Hiya, I have a 2001 x1 and being over 6 foot I am finding the position very comfortable but not racy enough for my style of riding (footpegs/boots keep touching the road). Does anyone recommend a racier setup? Basically lower bars and foot controls which are higher and further back. Many thanks from the uk. |

Loki or Bomber, any more info on those Moose bars you are using? I am trying to get a position something like you are describing, a little more forward, little lower, more like a drag bar. Any tips? I had Crossroads on my last bike and I am looking for something more along the likes of those, just can't afford Crossroads right now. Ken |

Any ideas about what was/can be installed in place of the knockout plate above the starter switch?(right hand control). It looks like a nice place to install a switch and much easier than trying to drill a hole on the left control without snagging the wires in your drill bit and being left without your brights.... The bike in question is a 99 S3T. |

Ez -- checking with the Euro folks right fater tI got my Y2K M2, there is apparently nothing installed in that place for any Buell (who knows what is there in another application . . . . . . ) a switch would be great there for anything, heated clothing, driving lights, cloaking device . . . . I've not been able to determine what other applications that switch housing has, though . . . . . . . . perhaps cannibalize another left hand switch housing for the turn sig parts, and use that to power a solenoid (depending on what you wish to power?)? |

having just dismantled and rebuilt said assembly. What ever would go in there is a simple left/right slide switch. |

Hmm! Cloaking device, I could use the schematic for that item. Could you send that to my email address please? SteveH(Closet Klingon) |

An radar transmitter to confuse the enemy would be handy.... A turn signal switch would open up the possibility of running three different items. I'm just going to settle for a garage door opener for this season, though. Bomber, From your profile it looks like you've got a few homemade additions to your ride. Got any pics of that turn-signal/license bracket? Feel free to send to my pm. |

LOL, we get in trouble on some threads for posting pics, and on others for not posting pics. Thinking I need to do the crud run in a couple of weeks just because. |

Bomber, that's a nice rear end you have there, though it troubles me to say that.... I'd love to have something like that on my S3, but I think I need to come to terms with you can't have clean rear-end AND have the capability for bags. Maybe I do need two bikes! |

EZ -- it also troubles me! {grin} lots of possibilities for an S3 -- turn sigs in the little vets in the tail section, mounted on the bags themselves . . . . .grab a beer, sit in the garage with paper and pencil . . . .. . things just start happening |

I was thinking seriously about the signals in the vents. One of them is loose and either needs glued or replaced with a signal before my daughter pokes it out. I normally have the bags on, so I'm not sure how odd the cutout in the bag would look without a light to fill the gap. It still may be a winter project "just to see". |

I just got back from a ride and I realized that my hand grips are very uncomfortable. Especially my right throttle hand. It always feels like I am gripping too hard and my hand cramps up. I finally realized that the grip is just too small for my hand. Its not like my hands are enormous or anything, and I always wear gloves, but the grip just dosen't fill my hand. Does anyone else get cramped hands when riding? Another explanation for my discomfort could be the fact that the previous owner changed the handlebars, so this may have changed the angle of the grips and made them uncomfortable. So basically my questions are... -Does this happen to anyone else? -If I am going to change the handlebars and grips what would you recommend? -Can larger grips be installed on the small diameter bars? (I really like those chrome ones with the rubber inserts) And last but not least... -Since I am going to be changing the grips, I really want to install heaters. I would just like to get anyones opinion on the different brands, and installation. I might be beating a dead horse with some of these questions, so feel free to point me in the direction of any related posts. Thanks as always! Andrew |

I went with HotGrips. You can find them here http://www.aerostich.com/riderwearhouse.store They were a little larger in diameter than the stock grips so they may fit your hand better. I just got back from a 2400 mile trip through New England and I used them all the time. With normal mild weather gloves the low position is perfect for 50-60 degree weather. I haven't got the colder temps figured out though. With more heavily insulated gloves, the low position doesn't provide enough heat, but on high the throttle side becomes too hot for comfort. The left hand is perfect cause it loses more heat through the bar. I need to come up with a regulator system to get the right level of heat balanced on both sides. I also had some difficulty with sizing them. I went with the 4.75" lenght because that was closest to the stock grips, but I ended up having to trim the ends with an exacto knife to get them to slide on all the way. 5.25" may be the right length for Buells. I've always liked a more barrel shaped grip and use Pro Grip Rally gel grips on every bike they will fit. And if you use the stick-on grip heaters discussed here recently, you can use any grip you like. Henrik |

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I am a poor college student, I will probably go with the stick on heaters, and just get my own grips to put over them. I am still wondering about any specific handlebars that will fit my tank. I'm thinking I want to go with more of a drag style since that will position my wrists more comfortably. I think I will just go to the motorcycle shop and hold a few up and see what I like. Thanks again for your suggestions! Andrew |
