Hey guys heres the backstory on my Buell blast: The poor thing sat with the jug and piston fully exposed to weather for over a year (sisters bike originally). I bought a used jug / piston / head and rocker box and installed everything. Months later got the thing to turn over with a stack and outerwears filter on. Shimmed needle and upped to 48/175 with the addition of a Vance & Hines exhaust.

Present day: Bike runs and idles , revs just fine up to the rev limiter in neutral, however when in gear usually 2nd gear and all gears after that, pulling the throttle wide open causes hesitation, coughing, and no power. Only with feathering can I actually accelerate. Also I am only reaching 60ish miles on a single tank before needing to fill up again. Checked timing and it seems to be working okay as I adjusted it using the static method. My top speed is about 65-70mph with quite a bit of stutter/cough/hesitation with the throttle.

my TO-DO list so far: Upgrade to racing plug, double check push rod install (didnt realize they were different lengths), change plug wire, adjust primary using sound method.

Mods: 48/175 Jetting
Vance & Hines Exhaust
Stack w/ outerwears filter
Shimmed needle w/ #4 washers (2)

Any suggestions? I'd love to be able to accelerate and get up to speed on the freeway
