Hello, I purchased an upgraded stator rotor combo, but it had a small nick in the coating which I'd like to fix prior to install. Does anyone know the proper coating? Thanks in advance. |

The epoxy on holding the wire in place or the actual wire coating? The wire does have it's own coating. |

Hi Terry, The chip is actually on one of the pole parts. So I'm guessing it's the epoxy coating - is that a specific epoxy type? Thanks, Corey |

The epoxy is only really there to prevent movement/vibration. It will need to be oil resistant and handle 250-280° heat. JB Weld make some good for 300°. |

The hard part will be getting it to stick to the existing epoxy. |

What about just patching the chip with some good RTV after very careful cleaning? |

The coating on the copper wires are something like schellac. |

Reep - that sounds like a great idea actually. Then if it does peel or fall off it wont cause much additional issues either. I was worried about JB weld thinking it was sintered metal (which may not be true) and I've read about glyptal before though I have no clue what it is or where to get it... |

I googled Glyptal, available from CRC, Eastwood etc... , insulating enamel paint. Used on electrical windings. SteveH |
