When my 2007 Uly was in an accident that sheared off the frame mount from the rear head, I had to pull the heads. The bike had about 30,000 miles at that point.

The head and piston had a lot of carbon build up.

That bike now has a bad crank, so the question is moot there. But I'm getting ready to buy a 2008 with a similar milage, and I am wondering if there is value in proactively pulling he heads and removing the carbon.

I'm really only worried about the carbon if it could build up enough to damage the crank.

It's a lot of work to do speculatively, so I likely won't, but I thought it worth asking he question.

I've done stuff in the past like adding injector cleaner into the intake of a running engine. it made a lot of interesting smoke, but I'm not sure it accomplished anything more than that.

Thoughts?
