Greetings. A voice from the past... I live in Australia and would like to buy my old S1W back from the Netherlands and import it, however I will need to convince the Government that an EU delivered S1W was the same spec as an Aus delivered S1W. If they weren't the same spec (ie headlight dipping the other way) I need to be able to show any variances. Would anyone have a definitive list of variations for the 1998 S1W's? From my hazy memory there was; 1. US spec 2. International spec (I assume UK and Aus used the same headlight whereas mainland EU used the opposite version?) 3. Japanese spec Somehow I also need to convince them that the information I provide is genuine. They say it should go through HD, but I can't see much chance of that flying... Thanks for any help. Don't know if you also look at the UKbeg forum? But someone there had imported his s1w to Australia last year! Did You have that sunburn orange with nucleair blue frame s1 with twin rim disks and single side swing arm? |

Speedo and headlight were only differences in Derek's homologation matrix. Australia is KPH. UK is MPH Both drive on wrong side of road. |

Hi Peter, Brother in Buells is referring to me. I imported my 98 S1W from the UK last year. I didn't get asked any awkward questions. I imported mine into WA. I had to get it inspected, so had to put a db killer in the silencer and make up a rear mudguard (both removed afterwards) and that was it. Now registered and riding it around WA |

Difference between NL and Aus? One had trouble-makers who pillaged Britain; the other was settled by trouble-makers who were kicked out of Britain? Nice to see you here Peter, and getting the old hot rod back, nice. Time flies. |

B an b, Yes it once had a turbo. Easy to ride down low, good power up high, but lost the torque characteristics that make the older Buells what they are. Bonzo Did you bring it in as a Personal Import, or did you have a Letter of Compliance, or did you put it through the Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme (RAWS)? Thanks Blake. Hi Peter, Brought it in as a personal import. They didn't want to see anything in advance apart from the registration documents. Anything else would have been picked up over the pits. This is in WA, I don't know if it's the same in all the states. Whereabouts are you? Bonzo |
