I am sure that if you did this you had to try several different parts to get the stuff that ended up working. And that is my question. I want to vent the lower end and was advised that the place to do it is at the timing large set screw - right side (between the push rod tubes). One guy said that the bottom end is already vented by a hose that is mostly covered up by the right side engine case cover so it is hard to see. But that vents the lower end. Do I on my 2000 X-1 have a bottom end breather coming off the right side of the bottom end? In any event the question is - would venting the lower end do some good or one might say - extra protection. So, if I add an extra vent (if I already have a lower end vent) what parts to get to do the job??? Parts that are available now days Has anyone vented the lower end? Where did you vent to? Should this post be under section - Breathers? (Message edited by x3rs on October 05, 2015) (Message edited by x3rs on October 05, 2015) (Message edited by x3rs on October 05, 2015) |

Come on, someone has done this. Perhaps you could share what parts you used. Where you routed the hose to,etc. I am thinking it would be good to preserve the seal between the crank and the trans. Extra protection from pressure build up. |

I would not recommend using the timing plug as that gets really messy. What I do is add a second vent to the upper front of my cam cover with a one way check valve off of that so it can only vent air out but not suck air in. |

do you remove, drill and tap then? Having trouble picturing the area right now. Check valve from what? |

yes remove drill and tap with 1/8 NPT pipe fitting. I use the area at the highest point right behind the oil filter. |
