Hello all, I bought a M2 cyclone engine from a person when I was buying my bobber frame. He stated it was off a 2001 but gave me a title that he said he got with the engine and its from a 1998. Is there anyway to tell what year its from by the serial number or any other way? I have to get some parts for it (Wiring harness, ecm, etc.) and want to make sure I buy the correct stuff. |

The whole serial number is KS11Y301493 If you can tell me anything else by that, I would appreciate it. |

Sorry on the engine it is the 5th digit and on the VIN it is the 10th. X=1999 Y=2000 1=2001 2=2002 This is what my factory manuals are telling me for the X&Y and match my 2000 but the manual says 2 is a 2001 and 1 is a 2002 but my factory 2001 has a 1 in the 10th digit on the VIN and a 1 in the 5th digit of the engine and the numbers match on the bike. I am inclined to believe the factory manual has a mistake. Anyway your number and my 2000 both have a Y in the 5th digit so we both have a 2000. |

That's awesome news thanks! I have been searching for the answer and came up nothing. Just to make sure the 2000 models used the standard wiring harness and ECM correct? Or does this one use the special ECM with dual plugs and wiring harness to match? |

Get a manual. 99-00 had the same harness/ecm and 01-02 had a different one. At least you have the thunderstorm heads. |
