Ok, so I'm a new owner of an 06 Uly but I have some specific challenges for storage and security. I won't be using the bike offroad much and plan to use it every day I can as a short range commuter. I'll be parking it in both high traffic lots and a hidden away apartment complex for a while, so no garage or even full time cover. Besides picking up one of the more expensive chains from someone like Abus, are there any security options that are good for these Buells? I know that the unique brake engineering on them excludes most of the normal disc-locks that many bikes can utilize. Has anyone found a durable and lightweight solution?

The rear rotor does have holes big enough to put a pad lock on.

Oh, great! Do you use any type of lock or security on your own bike?

I have used a combination of both. A small padlock will fit into the holes in the rear brake disk, making rolling the bike away more difficult. Along with using the fork lock. One big caution, failing to remove the lock before driving off can/will be expensive.

When at the apartment complex, both the padlock, fork lock, and using the really big chain to lock the bike to something solid is what I would do.

I don't lock mine. I just park it among more desirable targets for thieves.
