I have seen fender elimination kits for Lightings in ASB catalog. Anyone know of any for 00 S3? This is what i would like to do: 1. Trim the fender or eliminate. 2. Flush mounted turn signals front and back. Has anybody done this? If so please send some pic. or post them and details. My buddies have eliminated theirs on their rice burners and installed some nice signals. They are flush with the body and shaped sorta like a eye and look like reflectors, maybe protrude from the body 1/4 inch. light housing and all is on the interior side of fairing. i know they can work for the back, but questionable about front b/c the front has the spots in the fairings for the signals. PLEASE RESPOND with some suggestions and pics BUELLERS. Thanks, jhbushmasta@aol.com |

Has anyone ever tried to 'fix' the lower fairings on an S3T after they've been broken? I would like to try and repair my right one just to get me through the summer. (Thanks Buell for a 2 month wait on replacement painted parts) Ideas? Someone suggested superglue, but I don't think that is going to work...the split where it went into 2 pieces is too large. I was thinking about trying some epoxy, but not sure which type. Suggestions? Also, what is this "VELCRO TRICK" I hear reference to? P.S. My apologies in advance if this has been covered 3.2 trillion times before, and I am SURE that it has. |

Cliff: I have had the opportunity to consider "repairing" my cracked lower fairings several times over the last 3 years. I have even toyed with the idea of some "pre-emtive" reinforcing. In each case I deferred in some steadily diminishing hope that we would eventually be provide with a lower fairing that would indeed be sufficiently constructed to withstand normal every day use. At present the only option (any recent increase in fairing build quality notwithstanding) seems to be the "velcro fix." This involves purchasing velcro from the hardware store and gluing it to the bracket and lower in place of the stock screws/anti-vibration grommets. I am sure there will be photos of this available either in the archives or via the generosity of a fellow Badwebber. Don |

Photos do exist, somewhere in the Vault. Cliff, a GOOD repair would REQUIRE a fiberglass fabric/resin type patch, either on both sides of the break or consisting of multiple plies on the inside. Someone also posted how they repaired their lower. Do a keyword search in the Knowledge Vault for "Fairing Lower" or "Fiberglass" and see if you find it. |

Thank you oh old and wise(nd) ones! :D I never noticed that handly little search function in the knowledge base before! Guess I just wasn't paying attention. So the fairing lowers are made out of fiberglass? DN |

Chuck, There was a recall on the tank mounting hardware. I recall some complaints about the size and fit of the new hardware. Anyone else? Blake you had a 97? Arvel |

all I've got a chip in my fork lower (00 Ma Duece) from a rock, bird strike, or dirty look, not sure which. I'd assumed that the fork lower is painted, rather than powder coated, but I've not seen a listing for the color either here, at ATC, or at Sport Twin . . . . . anyone know what the straight skinny is? thanks |

I have in my garage today my buddie's '96 black S1. He has 15,000 miles + on that bike and by no means is it a hangar qeen. The bike has its original paint and decals. Its tank decals are absolutely perfect with not even a distant sign of bubbling. Manufacture date on the neck sticker is April '96. My yellow '96 made in October 1995 has extensive bubling. Is there anyone out there unaffected by the bubbling demon? |

Doc5339: One of the Buellers here in St Louis has a 99 M2 with a S3 fairing and it looks really good. It should be a straight bolt on from what I understand because the M2/S3 frames are near (if not) identical. I may even have a picture of the bike. (I'll look) DAve |

They make a Sportster motor rigid frame that fits the Buell motor with its unique rear mount, the swingarm block. For a person of short legs ist about the only way to reach the floor. Guess the mechanic is going to be me. Jose |

Does anyone have an air box cover and a non-scratched stock header for a 1998 S1 Lighting? I lowsided a couple of years ago and never replaced those parts. They are not scratched that bad but it would be nice to have the old Buell looking better. Please e-mail me at s1_buell@yahoo.com if you have any info. Thanks Nick |

Mike, Go to Sacborg and look under Forums - General Discussion - 'Bike Pics! Add yours now!' topic to see more of this bike. Also here in the ATC classifieds at the third ad for parts. PPiA |

Cracked S3 license plate holder.. The plastic "fender" that the license plate and turn signals bolt to on my S3 is cracking up...No big deal, looks like Sh*t stock anyway. Is anything aftermarket available for replacing this, or is it time to do a CAD design for a billet or sheet stainless piece? Anyne else have this happen? Dd you fix it anyway othe rthan a new stocker? I'd like to see any ideas. Al |

Hi, Vtwin2 If its plastic(nylon is used in the fuel tank) you need special plastic bonding primers and good luck(I will have to go through the same soon). If its fiberglass, its normal processes. |

Hi Vtwin2, Have heard of a couple of instances where S2 owners have had problems with paint bubbling on the tank. This was resolved with a special "breathable" primer. You would have to talk to someone else for specifics. Something to check into though. Bill |
