00 M2 Nissin Front Caliper - new pads drag on rotor with retention spring in place? When I remove the spring - no drag. Considering running with out the spring ??. The rotor has approx .007 total runout, with no pulsing at the lever. My understanding is the spring is in place to reduce squeel. Anybody with any experiance on this? |

Sdecesare, the billet Nissin race calipers that I have, do not have a retention spring, but they do have a magnet in each piston which keeps the pads off the rotors, when not braking. I am not sure if this option is available for the standard 6 piston Nissin calipers or not, Brian. |

I lost mine or it broke and fell out for several thousand miles before I replaced it. I did not see any adverse affects on performance or wear. I was uneasy riding without it though. |
