The roller bearing directly behind the front sprocket is shot. Any chance of replacing it without splitting the cases? |

There is a ball bearing on the outside of that 5th gear drive assembly (which is what the front sprocket is mounted too). There is a needle bearing on the inside of that assembly. Hard to imagine getting either out without splitting the cases. |

That's what I was afraid of. I started pulling the motor today. Made it 86k miles without any major issues so I guess I can't complain. |

Best place for parts? Are all the tranny parts still available through Harley? |

If you are going to split the cases anyway, you might want to do a crank upgrade. And I'd like to record the VIN, build date, and Mileage here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/648773.html?1374261251 If you don't mind sharing them. |

Any tips on getting the flywheel nut loose? Clutch main shaft came lose right away but the nut on the crank won't budge. |

I couldn't get it with a breaker bar but a 1/2" impact did the trick! |

Impact wrench is a bad idea. The impact can knock the magnets loose and also demagnetize them. |
