Ok, so I searched Knowledge Vault, and I checked each of the accessory websites that I found linked under Parts Service and Accessories, but I can't find any info on frame or axle sliders for a S3T. Any suggestions. Google found me these guys: http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no =22581 and they only list the X1/S1/M2 - but the photo looks like it might work? What do you think, we'll these fit? Is the breadbox basically the same on the S1 as the S3? That looks like the only thing that might interfere (on that side of the bike). Are there alternatives? How about axles? |

They also offer bar end sliders, not sure how much they'll help on an S3T, but might consider them too: http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no =30713 Do we know bar ID diameter on these things? Is it 5/8"? |

So, as soon as we get past the holidays, and assuming I've got a couple of coins left to rub together, I guess I'll take a risk and be the first (?) to report on the fit of these sliders for an ST3... |

They fit fine. We've sold a bunch of them. The only fitment issue that we've seen is that with SOME exhaust systems, the header is so close to the frame that the rear header pipe can hit the clamp. If that occurs, some time will need to be spent getting the angle of the header changed a bit... new port gaskets, the new style exhaust hanger if the bike doesn't have it, etc. Note that the actual sacrificial part of the slider is a slightly different shape now. Our picture is as outdated as theirs, though. Al |

Al, thanks so much for the reply. I didn't realize you carried them too, probably because my search was only on the S3 page! http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/6095.html My sliding caliper says I've got at least 15mm between the frame rail and rear header pipe, does that sound sufficient? I'd much prefer to order from someone who participates in the forum. Let me know, I'll place the order just after the holidays. Thanks, Kev |

It's hard to say for sure because of the shapes involved, but see the dimensions below:
The bobbins are still round, but the sacrificial part that grinds away when it hits the ground now looks like this:
We keep black bobbins in stock, but can get them in a bunch of different colors on special order. Al |

Those dimensions are very helpful THANKS! I just measured the vertical distance from the frame rail to the header pipe and that was about 15mm min - so 0.59" I didn't measure from the frame rail back horizontally toward the pipe, but as long as the vertical distance shows no interference I SUSPECT I'm good. I'll take another look before I order. I'll probably want to go with black, but could consider silver/grey to go with the Volcano Gray on the bike. Thanks much, will be in touch after the holidays! |

Note that clearance without the engine running doesn't necessarily mean clearance once that engine starts jumping around on it's isolators. But, based on vertical clearance that you have, I think it'll clear. Black ones are in stock, other colors would need to be ordered. Al |

Very good point that I had not considered. Well, I can start it and idle it (they seem to jump around more at idle right) and measure at point of smallest clearance, and let the header pipe knock the sliding caliper closed a little... ... but I think I'll probably take a leap of faith and just deal with it if there are any issues. Noted on black vs. color. I won't be in a rush anyway, so no worries. Life is good - RIDE SAFE and MERRY CHRISTMAS Kev |
