I am 5 10" and currently have a blast also middle aged so not looking for sport bike but more of a cruiser that is like the blast but more capable on freeway if needed. Just got back into riding some 1000 miles ago after not riding for 25 years Most of my riding is several hour trips on the weekends I do all my own wrenching. Have been lookin at the m2 xb9s and xb12x Have also seen several of the 1999 2000 X1s for sale. The 2005 Buell xb9sx looks very close to what I want, but is there a long version of this ? Given my inseam of 30 want to be able to be flat footed. Thanks (Message edited by mhlunsford on October 23, 2013) (Message edited by mhlunsford on October 23, 2013) |

M2 is a great bike - I had mine for 14 years. Look for a 2002, they are the most sorted out and will require the least wrenching time. Look for a M2L for a slightly lower seat height. I have a 32 inseam and was on my toes on a standard M2. Can't speak for the XBs, I understand they are more sorted, handle better, less maintenance, but they lack the soul of the tubers. |

I went from a Blast to an X1 to an XB12XP. I hadn't ridden for a loong time when I bought the Blast. I rode it for 2 years & then graduated to an X1. THe X1 was uncomfortable for me after c100 miles. The riding position hurt my back & numbed my left arm. I switched to the XP for the more upright riding position. I wish I could have kept the X1. Great character & lots of power + the pleasure of riding a sports bike. However, my back is "bad" (I've had back surgery) & it was too painful for me to continue. The XP is my current ride. Very comfortable for long distance (say 200 mile + rides). No real discomfort & way more capable than I am at speed & in corners/twisties etc'. The Blast was a great machine but I am 6'1", weigh 200 lbs & am currently 53 years old. If I had my choice having ridden all 3 I would stick to a "tuber". More cache & so long as you are prepared to work on it sometimes, a reliable ride. The XP is my next choice over the Blast, simply for the power & long range ability. I loved the Blast but I just outgrew it. Just my 10c worth. YMMV. Chris C |

You can just get the m2l seat and put it on a standard m2- that will lower seat height about 1 1/2 inches. |

they show up from time to time on ebay, or in the classified section here. also the "select" seat is a little lower if you can find one of those. |

hey - also get a service manual. what year is your m2? I have a 1999-2000 service manual that I don't need anymore. Let me know. |

Thanks guy gave me a manual 2000 m2 I emailed Corbin to see if they have a low seat. I seem to hit neutral once in a while when sifting from 1 to 2. Guy I bought it from say to put firm pressure when sifting and use the clutch slow. I am use to sifting the blast. He say he did not experience this so maybe me ? Also the sifter is lower than I like can they be adjusted up ? |

Well does it look like a boomerang from the side or does it look like a normal shifter linkage? |

Sloppy shift from 1 to 2 hitting neutral is kinda par for the course. You can attack it several ways and make it better (better shifter linkage, right fluids, right primary adjustment, and getting used to doing it right). But if it was in second, and popped out for a second before dropping right back in (feels like the belt jumped a tooth), you will need to pull the transmission and rebuild it. Not a disaster on a tuber because it has a trapdoor tranny, but a significant amount of labor. |
