I have a Cyclone with a persistent clack from what sounds like a flat lifter. I have replaced the factory lifters with fuelings hp+(?). I oil canned the lifters, pushrods, and rocker arms. For the first couple hours after assembly the bike sounded like an old Singer sewing machine. Awesome, I thought, problem solved. Later that afternoon back to clacking. Ive changed the oil, replaced the oil lines, pulled apart oil pump and cleaned it. It looks pretty dry in the rocker box. I added some washers to the back of the oil relief and that seemed to alleviate the noise at high engine speed. It appears that the noise is oil pressure related. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUu_7jnvCss |

After pulling the rocker box covers and running the engine I now think it is the front connecting rod. I also did the screwdriver stethoscope and I am getting a distinct sound from the base of the front cylinder all the way to the rocker box on the front. The sound overall is quieter with the rocker box covers off. Bummer, dont really have the cash for a proper rebuild. I'll snag another video with the covers off. |

Howdy! My 2000 M2 went through the same thing. I chased the noise hoping for the least expensive. Finally I took the engine apart to where I did find a rod bearing failure. I rebuilt the motor using a new flywheel/rod assembly. Runs great, back in love! Good luck. Jack

I pulled the top end, definitely the front rod. |
