I'm looking to get a little more top end out of my bike. Hoping that a change from the 27T to 29T would make the change I'm looking for. Anybody know where to buy a quality pulley? I've checked through the threads here and on americansportbike but I can't find them specifically for a newer xb. Any input would be appreciated. |

Due to the unadjustable nature of the XB axle, you can't simply swap in another front or rear pulley. Your options are to convert to a chain drive, or swap in the XB12 sprocket and chain in the primary case. |

It would be wise to have some performance mods done before attempting this as you will sacrifice some low end power by going with the 12 sprocket and chain. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A17151.html You can do chain conversion for relatively cheap. I started putting the parts together for my old XB but I was going in the opposite direction with the gearing. For more top end you would probably want something around 23 front 50 rear. This was my setup. It is a 530 pitch. Most use a 520. Front sprocket - PBI Sprockets 277-20T Ebay $40 Rear sprocket - GSD Custom Sprocket $89.95 (52 or 53 tooth) (52 tooth) Vortex # 827K-52 / $71.20 / Billetcycles.com (53 tooth) Vortex # 827K-53 / $71.20 / Billetcycles.com Idler pulley - Dayco 89005 Ebay $16 530 x 120 link CC Rider 0326 / $42.99 Spacer behind front sprocket – 1.70” ID x 2.25” OD x .25” thick With this setup you will need to modify the stock belt tensioner to fit the Dayco pulley and to make it adjustable. |
