So I bought my Blast three months ago and it worked like a dream. Two weeks after I bought it, it was dead one morning. I jumped it from the car and got it started and it ran fine for another couple months. Last week it happened again. I jumped it and got it started again but this time it ran funny. I hear and feel a popping behind the air filter. It has a hard time starting out but gets going in third and fourth. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Sounds like you may have a seal leak. I think a backfire can cause seals to tear, causing those seals to leak. I hope someone else chimes in. This is a good site for Buell help. I'd encourage you to use the Google search for BadWeb at the top of this thread. Type in "blast", "Blast lack of power" etc. Welcome to BadWeb... |

These bikes need a fully charged system to start and run properly. Sometimes if they start hard they may only run or start on 1 cylinder till the rpms get high enough to fire with both cylinders. This is what I have found on my M2's and they have 2 cylinders of course. 12.5 volts standing and 13.7 to 14.5 running on the battery terminals. Please try charging first and then see how it starts. |

Your problem may well be a charging system problem, check that it's actually charging properly. You need to start with a fully charged battery and monitor across the battery terminals - voltage should be between 13.5 to about 14.8 volts DC, if the system is healthy. Less could be a duff regulator and or stator. More is likely to be a shot regulator. You can also check the stator voltage open circuit at about 4k rpm, you should see about 90 volts AC. Don't shock yourself!! This is not posted based on knowledge of the machine, rather based on general principles used in diagnosis of charging faults on motorcycles in general! |
