For the record, despite what you think you see in figure 6-24, the ECN is NOT a left hand thread. You CAN take it off with a breaker bar and a 1-1/8" Socket. You still need the "Locking Link Tool" or you can make one using a piece of 1/4" Bar Stock from your local hardware store. (less then $10) BUT you need to install it opposite of the illustration. If you are also required to remove the primary chain you will need to take the clutch adjustment screw out of the clutch basket, DO NOT REMOVE the diaphragm plate, just the retaining clip that holds the screw in. Then install the Locking Link tool, as it is shown in Fig. 6-24. This nut IS a left-hand thread. You'll likely need a pick tool or something you can use to pull the Stator cover (which has huge magnets in it) away from the stator in order to get both the primary gear and the clutch basket off together. You can do it, it's not that hard if you know what to do. Knowing is half the battle! Hope this helps. |
