My XB9S is officially dead after 4 years and 58k miles of 120 miles/day commutes @ 4500 rpm. On Wednesday I got to work and the engine was making a very noticeable "whurring" sound. Uh oh not good. It started, ran, and drove home just fine but it was still sounding not very good. Today I drained the oil and the magnetic drain plug has a big metallic mohawk on it. I don't even know if it's worthwhile to do an autopsy or not but I'd kinda like to know WTF happened and what I could possibly do to prevent this in the future. I changed the oil and trans fluid religiously every 5k with Harley synthetic. I literally rode the living shit out of my bike but I never abused it. I'm honestly very sad right now because I love me bike and I wanted to keep it forever but now I'm going to have to replace it because I really don't have the time to consider rebuilding the engine. Anyways, just trying to wrap my head around this whole deal. If anyone has any thoughts on what to look for please let me know. |

You will need to get it part to find out for sure what went wrong. Could be the crank, pistons, cams. Until you know for sure do not start speculating as it is pointless. If you need any help with parts once it is part just give me a call. |
