I was wondering if any gearheads on this site have the dimensions for a tube frame triple trees. I'm planning to build a new upper triple tree from billet. It will used H-D style 1" risers on 3.5" centers and will also sport bosses so I can run a Sportster eyebrow style front headlamp. If a fellow wished to be real clever he could mill in a pocket for a V-Rod style headlamp. |

I'm attempting to fabricate a one off Buell upper triple tree. I clamped the upper triple tree to the 6061 T6 one inch aluminum plate. I've indicated in each hole before I drill it and bore it. This should be fairly accurate. We'll see. |

The reason for this project is so I can run Harley style risers on the new upper triple tree. The stock Buell upper tree is hollowed out on the bottom and only about .250" thick. While this is probably strong enough to support the 1/2" riser bolts I'm using the 1" plate to make sure it's strong enough. I could have used dog bone risers bolted to a 7/8" tube on the stock handlebar clamps but I think dogbone risers look tacky and they have been known to slip. |

Here's a pic of the work after all the holes are indicated in and bored out. As you can see I must have done something right. My Bro, Fallout said, "Kerwin! Install the pinch clamp slots and bolts and run it just like that!" And I said, "Only a True Redneck would do something that outlandish!"
