Hi all, I'm newer here. So please bare with me. SO i have the chin cowl off and there is a Allen that sits right behind where the header's slip into the muffler. If i could get the size of that i'd really appreciate it.. only have Metric and 6 is too small and 7 is too big.. unless its an odd 6.5 i dont know... Also I noticed there's a cable that connects to the top of the stock muffler and the DnD doesn't have anywhere for it how and what exactly do i go about removing this and what do i do with it? I bought this used so i didn't receive a manual. Help would greatly be appreciated! |

Not sure of the size of that fastener off hand, but you are going to want to stock up on American size tools, as the bike is a mixmash of both SAE and metric. Get yourself a good Torx size 27 socket if you haven't yet!
The cable you are referring to is for the exhaust valve actuator. The stock pipe is really two mufflers in one, and depending on how you are riding it can change the flow of the exhaust to optimize low end torque and high end power. You can disconnect the cable, and tie it out of the way. I do not recommend totally removing it as it is a pain in the ass to put back in the future.
Be sure to pick up a Race ECM for that pipe from EBR, as aftermarket exhausts will make the bike run very lean. Also, not having the stock exhaust can throw a check engine light, the EBR ECM will prevent that.
Be sure to pick up a copy of the service and parts manuals (American Sport Bike has them), they are invaluable tool for working on these things. |

Sound's good, I'll pick up some standard socket allen's.. and am i able to move that valve by hand once i get the muffler lowered a bit therefore giving some slack and being able to un do it from the muffler? also can i just re use the rear exhaust clamps? Mine seem to be in great shape.. Thanks for your help Froggy. |

You can absolutely reuse the rear clamps.
The manual says not to reuse the front, and that is prudent advice. That being said, some here (ahem) have reused them a second time without failure. And *that* being said, some here (ahem) have been crawling around in the parking lot at work jury-rigging a steel strap from Pep Boys to replace a broken (reused) front strap so they could limp home. DAMHIK. 
Reused tons of back straps, never had any fail (40k+ miles on XB's). |
