got in an accident and now need to replace my foot pegs.

Is it better to Replace with Stock Buell Footpegs or Go with Billet aftermarket pegs. Im looking on Americansportbike.com and you have to buy thr bases then the pegs which ends up to be $70 BUCKS --

Also is it true that stock pegs need to be replace if stood up on?? "The stock XB pegs are cast and are brittle and should be replaced if you ever stand up on your pegs" (ASP.COM)

I have been thoroughly enjoying my lowered Alum pegs from Knight design ... also a sponsor here.

I also picked up axle sliders, SS bar ends, and an engraved Pegasus reservoir cover while I was at it. I love them all. Great customer service, answered all of my many many questions, and still got my order out quick once I finally decided what I wanted.

I guess I need to reword it..I wasn't saying that standing up on the pegs will damage them, I meant that if you are a person that stands up on your pegs, a peg that snaps off will have disastrous consequences. The stock pegs are brittle, and are easily damaged without necessarily snapping off. If you happen to stand up on a peg that is damaged like this, it will likely snap off under your weight, which could get very ugly indeed.

Undamaged, the stock pegs can take something like 1000lbs of weight before breaking. They are designed to snap off in a crash to prevent further damage to the bike and reduce the chances of impaling the rider.

The stock pegs are nice and cheap, hence my reason for running them, but there is a good selection of aftermarket pegs from Knight Designs, Precision Engineering, American Sport Bike, ebay, and other sources.
