Hey everybody. I've been working on my S1's clutch for quite awhile and now I'm not sure what's wrong. It started when my aptly named "grenade plate" exploded. Instead of just replacing it with another, I decided to buy a PC-1300-XL Rivera Pro-Clutch. I didn't buy a new basket, though there's a small groove along the wall from the loose rivets. I put everything back together, adjust the clutch release and all looks well...But the lever is REALLY stiff. It feels like the diaphragm spring isn't compressing at all. I try to roll it around the garage on first gear with the clutch lever all the way in, but it doesn't budge. I start it up, kick it in gear several times (with my hand on the brake), but each time it lurches forward and stalls. The clutch hub alone turns really smoothly, but is really stiff with the plates installed, but since I've never seen a working clutch pack, I don't know if that's normal or not. The primary rotor is also really hard to rotate. When I first took the primary apart, it was impossible to do without the locking wedge. Now it's almost stiff enough to air wrench the nuts without it. Thanks for your input everyone, and I hope that's enough information for you all! There's no way I can figure this out by myself. |

I told my Harley riding friend about my problem, and he's totally baffled. I must be overlooking something really fundamental... |
