i am currently searching the knowledge vault, but time is not on my side....the moto has: charged battery tight, clean, grounds secure, clean positive and negative battery cables bridging hot starter post with the solenoid results in fast, free spinning motor, but no pinion activation to turn motor over pressing starter button on handlebar (with ignition switch on run) activates the relay under the seat, but no click or other sound from the starter, and no fluctuation of the headlight |

Solenoid? What is battery voltage? Full charge on healthy battery is 12.7 V. Service manual in Knowledge Vault provides detailed troubleshooting guide. |

Link to 1997/1998 Buell S1 Lightning service manual... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/Manuals/S1_1 996-1997_Service/intro.pdf Click on "Electric Starter" then "Troubleshooting". Also applicable to your M2 Cyclone. Prior to this problem, what if anything was done to the bike? |

thanks for the thoughts, info, and link. turns out that a snagged cable tie caused the starter wire connection to pull apart enough to interrupt current..... we had a buddy who is a moto mechanic come check it out....he looked at the bike, pulled out his pocketknife, cut two cable ties, pushed the starter wire connectors together, and started the bike.....30 seconds, tops............... |
