Question about Washington State Motorcycle Insurance. I just moved to go to college and dropped my insurance on my bike a few months ago because I was not sure what my budget as a student was going to be. It has since been sitting in the garage since then collecting dust. As the weather gets better I want to go riding again and want to know if anyone knows of a good insurance company here. I have tried researching but unfortunately it seems that every national insurance company is just a bunch of assholes. Is there local insurance that is better? Or is there possibly an only moderately assholish national company that I could go with? I would prefer inputs from people who have made a claim with their company as that is really when the assholes seem to come out of the woodwork at these companies.

Howdy neighbor. That is some desirable bike. It is the same one I have. Dealing with insurers can always be unpleasant. I have been with State Farm for 40+ years and my agent here in Aberdeen treats me well. That is all you can hope for. You may pay more through an agent, but if you find a good one you will be thankful if an incident should befall you. It is just like finding a good service department for those things you don't want to take on yourself.

In my experience it is cheaper getting quotes online. Some of the bigger companies offer discounts when ordering online, because it is less work for them. But to be safe you could compare quotes online, pick the best offer and try a local agency to see if they can match it or do better.

I recommend this site for online comparing: http://www.quotes-center.com

My personal experience has been they love to take your money, but hate dishing it out. Been with progressive for 4 years now, insuring 2 bikes at under 100 bucks each, well my 12r is like 96 and my little yamaha is like 60 I think. They were nice to deal with when I got hit a few weeks back also, I wasn't at fault so their involvement was limited but they kept in touch to make sure I wasn't getting screwed by the other guys ins co.

I ride a '07 XB12R. I live in Spokane, WA. I have two cars, but on a separate policy. On a policy all by itself, with $50k bodily (for me and a passenger)/ underinsured motorist/full coverage(as I still owe on the bike) and I pay $51.00 a month.

It was more to start out with (around $90.00 a month). But I had never insured a bike before, or ridden with a motorcycle endorsement on my license.

(I have ridden street bikes without "certification" for years) This quote is for a male person which has been married for 10 years+ without a single traffic violation in over 10 years.

Our current insurance provider wouldn't even provide insurance because they considered anything over 1000cc a "superbike" and would flat out not insure it no matter what.
