I just bought a 95 S2 and could not reset the trip odometer. Is this a common failure or am I just too stupid to own a S2. Any and all help appreciated.

The knob on the dash is connected to a cable that goes to the bottom of the speedo.
The cable may have broken or come out of the speedo or the knob.
You did turn the knob clockwise right? You need to keep turning it until the odo reads all zeros.

Old school baby!

Check out the Old School S2 section and make sure you get your VIN on the S2 master list...

Tried turning felt like it was binding.tried pulling(gently) and the whole button comes up. Feels like the cable is seized in the housing

What you need is a small woman. Many of us had to marry one to reset our odometers.

It's likely never been reset (there are not enough small women to go around). Shoot it with some possum piss . . let it sit for a day or two then . . . when you find the small woman who can reach in there . . . tell her to get gentle . . .

Old school indeed . . welcome!

Mike, there is a cotter pin (very small one in there) it holds the cable to the drive indicator. It will be best to take the fairing off so you can get to everything and gently remove the collar of the speedo cable. My guess is you may just need to oil it up a bit but also make sure the cotter pin did not break or rust up.

Court Frank Brad

Thanks for the info. I am really digging the "new" S2

Court I haven't had much luck finding a small woman that likes a Jumbo Petite man.

I have good news.

There are few folks less attractive than Frank, Brad and I . . . and I'm talking about the REAL Brad . . . not those cheesy "wanna be Brad" cardboard cutouts . . . and we all managed to find women far better than we deserved.

There's hope.

But . . first fix the S2.

: )

right now riding S2 weather is too good to fix must ride. The S2s are some very special motorcycles. I am one very fortunate person to have been the one that bought my specific bike.
