I recently sold my Blast, and have been looking for a Firebolt. Found this 03 about an hour away. Speed Sensor is bad (owner says only has couple hundred unclocked miles on it). While looking it over, I discovered some oil on the front jug above and in front of exhaust flange, around the isolator (which appears to be bad. Owner said it had a bolt loosen up and sprayed oil out. Could this be a rocker box gasket? What other things should i check out? He is asking $3800 w/6500 clocked miles. New tires and rear wheel bearings.

So I picked the bike up for $3400, and immediately began tearing it down for inspection. Is there any difference in speed sensors for the buells versus dynas/sportsers We have some 74429's and 74430's inventory Though the bike calls for 74431? Also The carb/FI is almost completely black w soot/carbon, what is the best way to clean it. Has rough idle for first 20 minutes or so. The exhaust on this has dual out, but looks stock, the book shows single out. Is it stock? Has stock ECM, and K&N. Can/Should I get remapped, my dyno tech says he can't wait to play w/ it. Hasn't seen a buell since 05. Any help I can get will be GREATLY appreciated. |

Here's a link to a speedo sensor for cheap. They are about $65 from HD I believe. I seem to need one every 10K miles. I have no affiliation with the seller http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/120687656594 That is the Pro-Series Buell Race-kit exhaust. You should DEFINITELY get it re-mapped. It is likely running very lean since it has high flow exhaust and air filter but stock maps. Looks like a pretty good buy. I love those white 03's. Best color for a firebolt, IMO. |

So on the way home from work today, I took a different way, and noticed a Performance Harley shop. Figured what the heck, stopped in to check it out. A nice little Dad and Daughter shop w/ about 20 bikes getting worked on inside and a Cyclone on the Dyno (I think I found a new Favorite store). The owners are VERY friendly and make it a point to be ALOT more competitive than the Stealership (spit). They will order any Buell part needed, and even stock some basic stuff (except my speed sensor). They have a complete machine shop and a pretty nice dyno, not sure about rates, but they are about $2/qt cheaper for oil. And $1 cheaper for plugs. And they are less than a mile from my home. So if anyone is in S.E. Michigan, their name is: Profile Performance (248)336-2666 At N.W. corner of 696 and Dequindre |

So, as I was going through and checking the bike out. I came across a small toolkit under tail seat, it had basic tools in it and this -->
It has no threads, yet has a pretty big c-clip in it. Million Dollar Question: What is it? |

The gizmo is your rear axle removal tool. I just noticed that my front rocker box is weeping out a bit at 25kish miles. I've never rotated my motor before but it looks like a fun little project. |
