All I'm a new Buell 2000 S3 owner and noticed the postings regards changing shift linkage to the 2001 style. Based upon comments and visual inspection of the new set up, I'm planning on the change. Is there anything I should know first? Warnings? Gotcha's? Or is the change as straight forward as it looks? |

I'm sure this is an old, beaten to death topic. I searched the archives, but haven't come up with the info I'm looking for. Here it is again. '98 S3. Broke the POS plastic license plate mount at the right turn signal hole for the second time. THis one lasted 26 miles! Suggestions for a fix? I bought a Storz stainless plate relocater. Is there a clean way to use this on an S3? Want the bike to still look good? Looking for suggestions. CW |

Have your whole tool set ready... Not really that bad, but if I remember correctly, to get the old linkage off my X1, it took an 11mm, a 13mm, an allen wrench and a torque (don't remember which sizes). I put on the Banke Shifter, myself, but it looks as though the '01 linkage will help to clear the multitudes of tools needed. I also remember it being a bit of a pain getting the linkage off the darn shaft. I ended up gently easing it off with a claw hammer wrapped in a T-shirt (probably not recommended). Give yourself about a half an hour. Vik |

Blue, Just installed '01 linkage on the X-1, as Vik stated the hardest part was getting the linkage off the shaft. I used my claw hammer to insert that short fat screwdriver to spread it a little and it came off. I also had to cut down an allen wrench to get the bolt out of that same linkage. Hey, I did it, you shouldn't have a problem. Clyde |

Has anyone installed one of the new Corbin seats for the 99 - 00 - 01 Cyclone? And if so, how is it? For $400.00, I have to know before spending that kind of money. On long trips (350 - 500 miles), the stock seat is to firm (at least for me). I have some trips planned this spring and want to improve the seat B-4 I go. Is there anyone else someone can recommend other than Corbin? |

Schemky: 2 alternatives: Pro pad or, Airhawk. I have used both. For around town afternoon rides ~100-200 miles I like the Pro-Pad. For longer trips, it is hard to beat the AirHawk. It is difficult to describe how comfortable this pad really is! It's only drawback is it will allow you to move around some that may be unwanted during some serious concrete carving. Many swear by the Corbins, but IMHO they are not that comfortable for the long haul. Just my $0.02. Neil S. |

Anyone know of a dealer who has the Millenium foot pegs in stock? I called about 25 dealers the other day with no luck. Thanks in advance. Gmilk |

Motorhead: I made a custom bracket out of 3/4" flatstock to relocate new turnsignals behind the grills in the rear. I used some LED signals that i got at a Truck suppy store. That are pretty good. not as bright as a stock bulb, but i think they will do. I will try to post some pics soon. |

I have a 99M2. The seat height is just a little high for my leg length. I believe I can sit about 1 inch lower by installing a 01M2L seat. I have two questions: 1. Will the 01M2L seat cross over to the 99M2 without major problems? 2. What is the part number for the 01M2L seat? Thanks for any help. MitchS2 |

Ccryder, I took your advice; I sent my stock 99M2 seat to Advance Custom Designs to have the "Propad" installed. I also ordered an Airhawk. I intend to take a day trip until I find the mileage limits on the Propad (after I break it in), then optimize the Airhawk. Should be interesting, thanx for your input (which hopefully will alleviate my "downput" on long trips). |

I recently purchased a 98 S3. I was getting some annoying turbulence around my helment at higher speeds (65 mph+). I purchased a taller windscreen from Rifle Fairings but now the turblemce is worse. In fact, it's deafening! Have any of you other S3 owners delt with this problem? Any suggestions? |

Anyone know how many lbs to torque the 01 shift linkage bolt? Im having trouble with my linkage sticking slightly. Its only happeneing downshifting from 2nd to N. Any ideas or suggestions, I saw that ASB has the bronze bushings and Im wondering if that would help me out. Thanks Gmilk |

Gudentight, with loctite or safety wire. Actually, I thing the torque on the small allen bolts is like 15 ft. lbs., not very much. The loctite or safety wire is necessary, though. My shifter came loose while riding up to my dealer. I had to ride around in 3rd gear until we found an autoparts store. |
