S2 recalled handlebars: This pic was snagged from a recent Ebay auction. It shows the recalled handlebars. If your handlebars look like these then stop riding and replace them immediately, or sooner. Note: these are the recalled handlebars (they were recalled, right? and if so then how come they keep showing up on ebay. must be a bunch of sellers collecting parts from landfills and dealership dumpsters).  | ||

Attn: S1 Owners! I need a seat that I don't bottom out (let the jokes begin)! Yes I'm 250 or so and I'm currently running a Corbin gunfighter. But just as with my other Corbin I had with my first S1 that foam wears and I bottom it out. Very umcomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions? Saddlegel reupholstry, Sargeants, Pro Series seats. I realize there's not much seat to begin with but there has to be something out there better. Thanks. Lee | ||

Best bet is taking your stock seat pan to an upholstry shop and having them custom do it with better foam and/or gel pad etc. I bought a seat off here from a guy that did just that and as far as I can tell it is WAY more comfortable. I havn't actually rode on it yet but I mounted it and sat and squirmed on it and shifted it all over the place and it felt about a thousand times better then stock. (I am at about 225#'s my self..) *lowers head in shame of out-of-shapeness* | ||

I'm not quite 250, but close enough. I use the Corbin TwinTail, and the Buell Solo saddle from the website. It's very nice. | ||

argh! someone pushed my bike over a few nights ago... because of this, i need a new pair of handlebars (among other things)... my bike is a 97 M2, but it has the larger 99 fuel tank. i called the dealership and they told me the part numbers for the handlebars are different for the two years... but no one could tell me if they're actually different. i assume i would need the 99 handlebars, to clear the larger tank, but i don't know if the mounting is different. do any of you know? any help would be appreciated! thanks ...c | ||

Cer Bars different, mounting not . . . . .get the newer bars to clear the tank, or, get yourself to a dirt bike store and look at their selection . . . .Renthals and Tag are great! | ||

bomber: thanks! i was thinking of using this opportunity to get some tighter bars (read: lower and narrower), but i decided to go stock for now... although, if anyone out there can suggest some nice tight bars that will work around the 99 M2 tank i may reconsider. | ||

I saw somewhere that bars off the Ducati Monster will fit on a 99+ M2 and just barely clear the tank. I would assume the 97 M2 has more steering lock though. | ||

I believe the steering lock is the same for both styles of M2s, measured at the frame, of course . . . .the bigger late modle tanks mean the middle part of the bar has to be wider to clear it, though . . . . also, check out Flanders . . . . got bars of damn near every shape and description . . . .fast service, too http://www.flandersco.com/ | ||

Lower, flatter, wider! I put a set of thick wall aluminum dirt bike bars on my s1. What it boils down to.... 2.5 inches of rise, 2 inches less pull back and 2 inches wider. Of the added width I am only actually using 1.5 of it. The rest allowed me to mount my CRG mirrors without the adapter. Which allows me to put bar end weights on also. | ||

I've picked up a set of used Woodcraft clip-ons for my '97 M2; can anyone who's installed clip-ons tell me if you needed to modify the headlight bracket, and what you did if you did so? Thx. | ||

Hi All, I've just fitted a Banke shifter on my M2´99 and I've noticed a little sweating around the triangular shaped "thingie" that mounts to the primary case... The oil seems to come through the bolt holes and then slipping between the case and the "thingie" (despite the right torque on the bolts). Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cure?? Silicone, paper gasket or... what?? I hate the fact that my plastic-rocket riding friends get the opportunity to make fun of my oil-leaking american bike.. So help me out relly quick before someone notices  BR/ Jonas | ||

Bull, Clean the bolt threads with brake cleaner and then use Loctite PST pipe sealant. Did you use the Banke footpeg relocators as well? | ||

Bull, If the clutch cable is leaking from the o-ring where it enters the primary cover, it can drip down onto the shifter assy. That might be the source. SteveH | ||

Thanks guys, I'll go for the pipe sealant.. but how on earth am I going to clean the threads?? They are about a mile in the case Nope, I bought a used setup which didn't include the relocators. I may buy it later and replace the shifter as well. /Jonas | ||

I don't see how sealant would work. I can't remember those threads being open to the inside of the case. I would think it would be a bad gasket or it is coming from the clutch cable. | ||

question about mirrors.... Are the bolt spacing on mirrors pretty universal. I have an xb9 and want to get some aluminum stalked mirrors that are longer than stock. But don't know if I need an adapter or have to make one or what. Any ideas or has anyone else gone this route yet? Thanks | ||

HI has any one used gel grip's on there Buell have y2k Cyclone a little too much buzz coming thru.. readjusted handle bar's with some success. Has any one had the handle bar tree dig in to gas tank before rubber stop..? full right turn..... Thanx J.B. | ||

I have gel grips on my 01 M2 with the Crossroads bars - huge improvement, especially since more weight is on them now. | ||

I'm looking for a little input here.. I'm not sure if it's a biological problem with me, or if it is a problem from my bike, but my hands are going numb riding my '02 M2L. My thumb and index finger seem o.k, but the other three digits on each hand get pasty white dead looking after about an hour of riding, takes about a half hour of rubbing and shaking to get the 'fallen asleep' tinglies out of them. I've only had the bike about a month now, and just love riding it. The first time I rode it, I thought it was 'cause I was gripping too hard, but now I know that ain't it. I've thought that maybe it might be a nerve pinching in my wrists, and perhaps taller bars might relieve that. I also think it might be from vibration, and thought about bar ends and filling the bars with shot...or I just might live with it and wander around like a psyco street person shaking my hands around to get the feeling back.... Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark |
