My XB12S Failed inspection because the rear break leaver when pressed would not light up the rear break light apparently I was not pressing hard enough. I went home and pressed hard on the leaver and it lit up. The front break leaver is fine. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the switch that lights up the break light when you press the rear break leaver? |

If your rear brake is set up like my X1, hydraulic switch, you may need to bleed the system. It may also be a sign the master cylinder is starting to fail. |

When I was in the inspection line I did not press on the leaver hard enough. There is some slack in the leaver and you have to press firm in order for the light to come on. This bike is a 2004 only has 5600 miles on it I guess anything is possible with a master cylinder. I will check that out. I am starting to need some new pads on the front so when I do the front I will bleed the rear and see what I get. Thanks. |

If the rear brake itself is working fine I doubt that it would be the master. The M2's use a hydraulic inline switch and all I have to do is lightly touch the switch. I set an older front tire on the lever that weight's 9 lbs. and even that will cause the brake light to light. It could be the switch is old or gummed up. If it is a manual type switch they are usually adjustable. Well good luck and let us know what you find out. |
