i am new to buells, just bought an 03 xb9s. skimming the manual, i see a few references to SAE bolt head sizes. but i just went to change out mirrors and found that they are M10! so what gives...is my buell ASE, metric, or (groan) both?

Welcome to the madness : D I hope you're enjoying your new toy!

"(groan) both?"
Unfortunately the XB's and tubers before them are a combination. The manuals are fairly good at identifying what's which, but be careful.
Generally speaking - Motor is imperial, forks/brakes/wheels are metric, frame is a combination.

I'm not sure about 1125's, which is scary 'cause I own one! I think they are totally metric.

(Someone correct me on any of the above if I'm wrong)
