I had the front fairing off my 98 s3 and sprayed some WD40 in the trip meter hole to make it spin better (it worked). However, I believe I over sprayed a bit and some of the WD40 got near the wires that lead into the tachometer housing. Anyway, I took the bike for a spin and it started sputtering, while the tach needle bounced up and down. I immediately brought the bike back to the house and sprayed electrical contact cleaner in the tach housing, on the wires in the tach housing, and the ignition switch housing. Went back out and everything is fine. Question:

Could the overspray of the WD40 into the tach housing caused the tach to go haywire? All the wires and their connections are fine and secure. Remember I have a 98' with a mechanical speedo. Thanks in advance!
