My 09 XB12XT experiences a rattle from engine resonance always just above 2000 rpm. the rattle seems to be coming from between the molded bodywork of the fairing and the metal housing it is mounted to. upon removing the windscreen and fairing i was unable to replicate the rattle (which is really quite loud when it happens), leaving me to conclude it is caused by the small gap that exists between the fairing and housing because of a simple imperfect part fit. has anyone else had a similar problem or have any solutions to fix it? i initially considered lining the housing with small stick on foam pads, but im not crazy about the idea. This rattle can be especially frustrating because i often find myself cruising at just over 2000 rpm at moderate speeds. |

On my 08 XT it was the horn vibrating and hitting the fairing husky |

It is a common problem, take off the horn and put everything else back on and you should find that was the problem. I made a new stronger bracket from some scrap metal I had which fixed the problem |

I had the same issue with my 2009 XB12XT. I simply reached under the windscreen and pushed the horn back away from the windscreen enough to slightly bend the mounting bracket of the horn. No issues since. |
