Is the cigar type power socket OK for powering a GPS ? Or does the vibration affect the connection ? |

It will work, but depending on the connector for the GPS, it may slowly vibrate out. I recommend hard wiring the GPS, you can easily splice into the wires behind the outlet and have a more reliable connection. Plus even if you do the impossible and totally screw it up, a new outlet with wiring harness is $15. |

Mine has worked great for last 4 years, 25K miles. Never a problem. The only minor problem I had was the wires into the cigar adapator I added to the Garmin cable worked loose on a short trip. I had used radio shack cigar plug, it fits socket very tightly but I am not overerly fond of the push to connect type adaptors for the wires into the plug. It was a two minute fix however. |
