'09 XB12XT, purchased last Oct. 3500 miles, dealer performed 1k and haven't had any problems at all so far. Couple nights ago, on the last leg of a 350 mi ride, noticed a yellow flash on the cluster a couple times, but put it down to car or streetlight reflections. The next day, on my commute, the check engine light came on about 5 min into the ride and stayed on. Everything sounded and felt normal and made it to work just fine. (10 min commute) Decided to start the bike up and see if I could at least get it home or to the dealer. No check engine light and it stayed off for the 30 min I rode it. Going to ride it this afternoon and see what happens. Any ideas what may have caused it or what I should watch for? |

Retrieve the stored error codes. This can be done with ECMspy or by jumping pins on the diagnostic connector per instructions in the service manual. The error codes will let you know what is going on. |

Also check simple stuff, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight, and that the ECM bundle is routed such that it isn't getting nicked (or if it was nicked, is taped up so it isn't shorting). |

Just got back from a 95 mi ride. No problems whatsoever. Glad for that, but now it's going to bug me. Time to dig out some alligator clips and search for the thread with the diag process. Dangit, I'm supposed to be out riding! |
