I just ordered a new kick ash airbox cover for my Xb12, but it came with the X guard (I must have gotten the part number for an Xb9). While putting it on, I put a LITTLE pressure on the X and it went CRACK, and just popped off. Underneath it looks like come kind of Krazy Glue residue (none of it stayed on the rubber X). On the advice of some people, I tried getting the residue off with Goof Off. It didn't work and dulled the finish. Looks like Goof Off may have made matters worse. Will wet sanding/waxing fix this or was the cover pretty much ruined as soon as the X guard was glued to it? |

Novus 3 and Novus 2 will probably make it shiny again. Set up in front of the TV, put in a good movie you have seen before, and give it a relaxed hour of work. Wet sanding may do it faster, but you are in uncharted territory. The only place you can't get is right by the raised letters. |

Do you still have the rubber "X"? I'm looking for one. |

yes i do. I ended up marring the cover with Goof Off and then made it worse with Superglue remover, which several people swore up and down would do the job without ruining it. I ended up buying another one...without the X. I have the cover if someone wants to try to polish it up or just sand it smooth and paint it. (Message edited by blarg on May 08, 2010) |
