Hey guys, I bought a new battery, added the electrolyte and I am ready to charge. My question is, will it hurt to charge it up with a 750mA trickle charger. The manual calls for a 1.2 amp but I dont have one. I would assume it would be better to charge it slower but I wanted to be certain. Thanks, Nathan

My bigger concern would be the battery. The Harley batteries are very high quality sealed absorbed glass mat. They look about as leak proof as leak proof can get.

I bought a wal mart battery for my KLR-250, and it was some utter junk made by Johnson Controls (Wandell was screwing up my motorcycles long before he signed on at Harley) and it was he "add the electrolyte" type with snap on covers. No idea where the "absorbed glass mat" stuff was, looked like a normal battery to me.

Anyway, it didn't even last a season. I shudder to think what a leaking battery could do to a Buell. So I would keep an eye on it.

Slow charge should be fine. Just try and get it up to a high charge before starting the bike with it. Lead acid technology doesn't like to be deeply discharged.
