I have never done my own work on bikes. (Except oil on my old 96 S2). I am planing on getting the heated grips and winddeflectors for my 09 Ss. Is this a decent idiot job, or am I biting off more then I should? I am not very handy though not completly incompetent. |

The Buell heated grips will go on easy. No splicing required, the plug is already under your dash. Only actually work you would have to do, is drill two small holes in the handle bar for the grip. It comes with a drill guide so you would be hard pressed to screw up. Just get your own bit, the provided one is so horrible, you would be better off chewing your way through the bar. Copy of the instructions so you know what your getting yourself into: http://www.froggypwns.com/buellpdfs/Buell_Heated_H and_Grip_Kit_INSTRUCTIONS.pdf |

Or you can save some money, not have to drill holes, and have your choice of grips instead of having to use the Buell heated grips (which aren't bad, but aren't my favorites either, and tipover will cost $70 per side ) by using these: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17301.html http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/5669.html The only thing that is a little bit more complicated is that you'll cut the Buell grip side connectors off and wire in spade lugs for the ground, low, and hot connections to each grip. But the connector to power the whole thing is already there on your bike, so that part is plug and play. I've installed these on several 08+ bikes and it is pretty trivial. al |
