The headlight on my '96 S2T has been stuck on high beam for a couple of months,so today I replaced the switch in the handlebar control. The wiring was color coded so how could I screw it up right?Well its still stuck on hi beam. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks Mike |

Don't know how helpful this will be, but the problem must not be with the switch. Possibly, the ground wire to the headlight socket may be disconnected from ground. So, to check this, --disconnect the headlight bulb, -- connect a VOM, set to read ohms on RX1 scale, from the headlight ground terminal to battery negative post, -- should read 1 ohm or less, --- if no, find out why there is a discontinuity from headlight ground to battery ground. --- if yes, then problem is not with the headlight ground. ---- Try replacing the headlight bulb. ---- If that doesn't help, further troubleshooting steps to follow... -- reconnect the headlight bulb for further troubleshooting. |

Sparky,it was the headlight itself. The ground checked out fine,so I replaced the headlight and that was the problem. I had it in my head that the last time the headlight burned out,you could still switch from hi to lo beam.I guess I was wrong. Anyway, thanks for the troubleshooting help. Mike |
