This one had both me and the cats at Seminole thrown for a loop. No, offense, they're good guys, but this was a pretty tricky intermittent... The bike has about 21,000 miles on it. I kept blowing the headlight fuses in my 2008 XB12S every time I tried starting it. Occasionally, I'd get about 3 starts before the fuse would blow. Most often, it would go right as I hit the start switch. To shorten the story, after several failed attempts at poking around in the wrong places, I finally took apart the Right Side Handlebar switch housing and inspected the start switch itself. The start switch contacts were dirty...not corroded, but dirty none-the-less. I used a pencil eraser to clean the contacts and put it all back together. I started the bike about 12 times in a row with no fail as of yet. Hopefully, someone out there will find this useful and maybe I can save them a truckload of headache. Take care |
