My baby has just over 2500miles on her in the 7 weeks since I adopted her. Sometimes when I fire her up she will run for about 3-5 seconds, and then die. Also the idle speed jumps around from normal to low to high, when it does this it also makes a whiney hiss-almost like a quick blast of compressed air-(as best as i can describe it). My old man seems to think think it is misfiring, and then coughing through the air filter. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it? I took it to the dealership, and they were absolutely no help because they couldn't reproduce the same thing. |

FWIW, my '08 dies on initial start-up once in a while. If it dies, I will roll in a bit of throttle and hold that on next start, and wait for a few moments before releasing the throttle. I Do Not blip the gas during warm-up. As to the erratic idle, try a TPS re-set. The procedure is simple on the newer ones; turn the ign and stop/run switch on, but don't start the engine. Roll the throttle from fully closed to fully open 3 times, holding at each stop for one sec or so. You're done. Then check your plugs. Sounds like maybe at least one is partially fouled. Hope this helps, Dave |
