Ok guys and gals I'm interested in either the Shoei Hornet or Arai XD-3. I like the look and feel of both but am weary about the visor. I feel like at 80mph the wind is going to catch that visor and throw my head back. Anyone have any experience with these? Also how is the wind noise? Does the visor make it much louder? Like I said I like the look and feel but not at the cost of comfort especially for $500. Thanks in advance. |

I have an XD3 and it's nice and quiet up to about 70 mph. I do get a bit of buffeting at that speed. I've worn it on on my Uly with the XT windscreen as well as my Road King. (Get the weirdest looks when I ride the HD.) I do have to be careful when doing a head check as the visor does tend to rotate the helmet. I don't like the fact that tools (screwdriver/quarter and patience) are needed to change shield and have gotten a Pin Lock shield because of this. Getting the visor and shield on in the correct orientation is difficult and if you don't wind and water get around the seals. The XD3 happens to be the most comfortable when I compare it to my other helmet a Shoei Multi-tech. |

Thanks. I had feeling that was going to be the response. I love the style but since I spend considerable time on longer rides cruising at 70-80mph I just cant compromise the comfort. Anyone else out there have any other opinions on these lids? |

Flip Ups tend to be noisy - but convenient. I'm happy with my HJC SY-MAX, but then again it's the only flip up I've owned. |
