Does anyone have any recommendations on winter riding jackets? I have a perforated leather jacket that isn't cutting it for the sub-50 temperatures. | ||

The Joe Rocket liner doesn't cut it for me in my JR jacket. Yesterday I went out with a friend to finish the break-in on our 1125s. I had on my Columbia 3-in-1 jacket underneath my JR jacket, a scarf (tucked in as not to be seen), and sweatpants under my jeans. The temps got as high as mid-40s, and my hands were the only things that were cold when we got off after 3 hours. My 2c is to get something like a 3 season jacket riding jacket that is windproof/waterproof, and then layer underneath it. As long as there's no snow or ice, I ride down to 35deg like that. | ||

I love my Frist Gear Kilimanjaro jacket. I regularly ride in below 30 degrees weather in the AM. I wear just the jacket and liner over my short sleeve shirt dress shirt until it hits about 25 or so. Then I put on a Aerostich Kantsue vest. With heated grips you are good to around 15 degrees. If course I have on a pair of First Gear HT-II over pants... with liner! | ||

+1 on the first gear stuff... that liner that came with the Kilmanjaro (I think mine was V2) is amazingly thin, but almost supernaturally warm. I have the matching pants with the matching liner as well. With the Polly grip heaters, about freezing is my limit for a reasonably comfortable commute to work (about half an hour at mostly highway speeds)... Not a bad ride at all. Below that, I spend too much time looking for salt and black ice, so it's not much fun no matter what. | ||

+1 on the Kilimanjaro jacket and ht overpants , plenty warm down to the 30's. theres plenty out there used for cheap to.if you dont mind tan than newenough has it on sale for 139.00 on closeout. | ||

I just bought one of those for my son! After I posted the note above, I decided to give them a check. It arrived on Thursday.. Actually the color is pretty neutral, they call it "sand", it's pretty accurate. Looks way better in person than in the pictures. Considering they went for $300 new, that's a heck of a price. Brad |
