I have a 2000 X1, originally it had a race intake, race ecm, and supertrapp slip-on.

It always had a slight issue starting with this setup(it would start fine, but wouldn't hold idle unless you gave it a slight twist of the throttle for 15-20 seconds then it would idle fine), I decided to return the bike to stock, and did the following with following results.

I took of the race intake, and installed the stock tube(the K&N stayed on), the bike now started and idled perfectly.

I then removed the supertrapp, and installed the stock exhaust, bike continued to start and idle perfectly.

Finally, I performed a TPS reset with the race ecm to verify I could do the procedure correctly, and everything is working fine. I removed the race ecm, installed the stock ecm, and performed a tps reset(what I should have done was start up the bike before the rps reset but I didn't) Now the bike has trouble starting and idling when the engine is cold. The bike will not start unless I pull the throttle back slightly during startup, and it will not hold idle unless I warm the bike up a bit(about 30 seconds at 1000-1200 rpm)

Once the motor is wamred up it will start and idle just fine. Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed next?

Do another TPS reset after the engine is thoroughly warmed up?

Sparky, now that you mention it, I do believe that I read that somewhere.

Ill give it a try tommorrow if I get a chance.

Thanks,

That may or may not solve your problem since theoretically the TP should be independent of engine temp. The other thing to check is to see if you have enabled Idle Closed Loop. If you do, take the bike out for a ride (steady at 3000 RPM for a few minutes) to teach the ECM. Then leave it overnight and try starting it in the morning.
It may also be worth to double check your TPS reset procedure to absolutely make sure the butterfly was fully closed when you hit the Reset button.

TPS reset was off. When the engine was off, tps showed 4.6/5.1, once the engine was started(had to be wamred up or it wouldnt hold idle) the tps fluttered between 4.6/5.1 and 4.9/5.5.

I wamred the engine up, reset the tps. The bike now starts up right away and measures 4.6/5.1 when it is off and on.
