I high sided my 2004 Xb12S and had to replace the right turn signal. After I high sided it I did not check to see if the head light worked. While I was replacing the right turn signal I took out the spacer so my turn signals did not look like diving boards. I had a blown headlight fuse it is a 15amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and flipped the high low beams and it blew the fuse. Has anyone experienced this? I guess I need to start at the high low switch! |

The highside may have disturbed the wiring to where there may now be a bare spot in one of the wires related to the lights. Look carefully at the wire harness wiring starting at the steering head area of the frame, looking for abraded insulation on wires. Another thing to check out is the turn signals and headlight sockets themselves to make sure that the + and - contacts did not get tweaked and are not touching. |

I found my problem. Inside the back cover of the turn signal switch a small piece of plastic broke off that supported the flash to pass switch. So when you pressed the flash to pass switch it was grounding out on the handlebars causing to fuse to blow. A small piece of plastic broke when I high sided. Strange! My handle bars are bent. What I ended up doing was put some electrical tape on the handlebars and stuffed some foam in the switch cover. While I was at it I did the headlight mod so both lights stay on when you have the high beams on. |
