I have a 99 S3T I have a K&N filter PC3 and a set of BUB 2-2 pipes. I recently had the bike dynoed and tuned by a certified Power Commander dealer who is also a Ducati dealer. While they had the bike they found that my TPS was bad a I had them replace it. After getting the bike bike it ran fine for the first day. Day +1 I was out riding some back roads really hard with a buddy and my engine light came on and it seemed to start hesitating just a little. I eased off for just a little bit and never noticed it again the rest of the day but I did not drive as hard that trip. Right now it seems to be getting a little worse. It seems to have problems running at midrange rps such as driving on a 45 mph city road up to about 60-65 then if I stand on a little and puch up to appx 70-80 it runs better. MY guess is that the tuner tuned it a little rich. I don't want to mess with the settings on my map and I had a terrible experience with this dealer so I really don't want to go back there. Today I am pulling the plugs to see if they look rich and am considering removing my power commander. Would I be ok to do this with my pipes and filter? Or should I go back to a paper filter? Stock exhaust which I really don't want to do. |

Do you have the stock ECU? If you take off the PC3 you'll probably be running lean with a stock ECU and that setup. If you can get a race ECU you probably won't run lean. |

The race ECM is programmed/designed specifically to work with the Buell race kit, meaning header, muffler and intake. It may or may not work well with other configurations. My advice would be to reset the TPS and check for intake manifold air leaks. |
