I'm in the middle of disassembling my engine and its clear the wrist pins are stuck in the pistons. It appears that the retaining rings have hammered a ridge into the aluminum such that it protrudes into the pin bore on both ends of both pistons. What's the procedure here? Do I press out the pins or grind off the ridge? Are the pistons and pins toast at this point? |

You should use a wrist pin puller. Do NOT put ANY side load on the connecting rods. If memory serves, Pammy once said that this is caused by excessive side play on the con rods. Oh Goddess, are you out there? Brad |

Thanks. I made a pin puller out of a bolt, some washers and a bit of PVC. With a little work it broke off the ridge that was protruding in the pin bore and came right out. I guess these pistons are toast since there's less of a groove for the pin clips now. Doesn't seem like there's much if any side play in the con rods so hopefully I'm ok there. |
